What happened this past week?
The 10-2 Bills definitely came to play in week 13 beating the 8-4 Cowboys 45-3. Despite Pharoah Phillips’ dreadful 5 interceptions, the Bills came out on top with a big thanks to Mario Williams (11 sacks) who now has an unheard of 18 sacks in 2 weeks. We don’t expect anyone to step up and block him either, as the Bills will host Oakland in week 14. Look for Williams to continue his run toward the MVP crown. Miami (8-4) kept their playoff hopes alive by beating the Ravens 24-9. The New York Jets (7-5) did the same in week 13 as they beat the Skins 22-14 with a big thanks to Shonn Greene (128 yds and a td). In week 14, we’ll see which of these two teams wants it more when they go head to head with their sights set on a wild-card berth.
In week 13, the Houston Texans made sure the Jaguars didn’t run away with the AFC South title. They went out and notched a victory by score of 45-32 with a big thanks to Tim Tebow’s perfect game (20/27, 362 yds, and 4 td’s). The Jags and Texans are now tied up at 7-5. However, the schedule looks far more favorable for the Jags as they play TEN, TB, CIN, & CLE. On the other hand, Houston has to finish up with CAR, ATL, KC, & TEN. Add into the mix that Arian Foster was hurt last week and will now be out for the next 5 weeks along with Cushing listed on the IR, and this Houston team doesn’t look so promising.
The Pittsburgh Steelers (8-4) may have knocked Cleveland out of playoff contention this past week when they beat them 31-0. Even though Richardson pulled off 129 rushing yards against this tough D, Romo blew the game as he threw 5 picks and no td’s. The Browns aren’t out of it yet, but they would need a lot of things to happen between now and the end of the season. The Bengals came up just short of the Seattle Seahawks, 20-30. This will move them to 6-6 and in desperate need of some Pittsburgh bad luck. Cincinnati is now faced with a must win game against the Cardinals in week 14. Let’s see if that young D can step up and stop Phillip Rivers.
The AFC West is turning out just how we thought it would after the loss of John Madden Jr. In week 13, both the Chiefs and Chargers won to become 8-4, and the Raiders lost to become 6-6. Both these teams are favorites in week 14 as the Chargers play the 3-9 Packers, and the Chiefs play the 2-10 Broncos. Look for Chris Johnson (SD) and Jamaal Charles (KC) to continue their excellent play in hopes of a playoff berth.
